Monthly Volunteers Meeting

We have recently begun monthly volunteers' meetings, where volunteers can become more involved on a regular basis with ERC activities, as well as socialise together. For the time and place of the next meeting, please contact Anna. (See "Contact" page.)

Are You Interested In Being A Volunteer?

There are three ways you can be involved in ERC as a volunteer.

  • Big Buddy: A "Big Buddy" is a young adult (17-25 yo) who goes on camp and works one-on-one with a child ("little buddy"), yet all the time in a group setting with the support of others.

  • Other Camp Leaders: Other young adults and adults play a variety of roles on ERC camps, from camp coaches to drivers and cooks.

  • Adult Supporters: There are opportunities for adults to help, as Board members, fund raisers, bus drivers and general helpers on camp.

Karen Duffy Award 2008

The Karen Duffy Award for outstanding
service has been awarded in 2008
to Daniel McNaught. Daniel has been
heavily involved in ERC for several
years as a volunteer, and a Coordinator.
During this time he has been an
inspiration and example of the Edmund
Rice spirit. Congratulations, Dan!

Karen Duffy

One of our long-serving volunteers and camp coordinators, Karen Duffy, passed away on Monday 25 October 2004. Karen was a wonderful person loved by all who knew her, and we in the ERC community miss her deeply. Her gentleness, kindness and good humour endeared her to many, many kids and volunteers on numerous camps over recent years.

Tell Your Story

As a volunteer you will experience many things you might like to share with others. Once you get involved in Eddie Rice Camps, we would love to hear your stories. To help you put pen to paper, we have a 'story guide' checklist. Just click on the link below and download the file. Then simply type in an answer to each question.

Commitment of Volunteers

Edmund Rice Camp volunteers need to be prepared to commit themselves to the values of the organisation. Since ERC is a Christian agency it involves certain standards of behaviour for those on camp. Below is a copy of the standards expected.
